Similar here in Bournemouth - looked outside when I heard thunder and my
impression was that it seemed to be coming from mid-level cloud. The
rainfall radar looked spectacular, but not much rain recorded here despite
an apparent direct hit from the heaviest rain, so suspect some of it
evaporated on the way down.

... rainfall 2.5 mm, most of that within about 40 mins, so nothing out of
the ordinary. Become misty though with little wind, though as skies
continue to brighten as AS thins (near CS now), things should pick up
nicely.
