south-tracking jet to awaken?
LOL, zonal to the edge of reality T+240.
That must mean summer is on its way.

I'm not liking the look of the GFS output for the past few days, showing the
southerly-tracking jet waking up by about this time next week.
Has a disturbing stench of 2007 about it :-(

Hope to god that doesnt verify...

I agree, Jim. I hope it doesn't verify too, but it backs up what I
said this morning about the possible "return of the Atlantic" and the
establishment of zonal conditions. The 06z brings some very warm air
very close to the UK, next weekend, though it still suggests zonal at
T240.
After the end of May/start of June, however, when the jet was tracking
much forther South than it is now, allowing that long period of
Easterlies and with heavy rain for Southern England, as lows pushed up
from the South and slowly crept Westwards, your thread title should
perhaps be.....Northward-tracking jet to awaken"! *))
