You must be optomistic by nature to attempt to grow sweet corn where you

Since 2001 I have had no air frosts in May although ground frosts have
ceratinly occurred but it is possible to protect tender plants such a sweet
corn.

Definitely warm sector weather here today with a maximum of 18.4C and
adewpoint of 15C. It has been quite bright from time to time but the sun
has never broken through.

Hi, Alan,
I'm the eternal optimist, we tend to be in this area and I have a go
at something different each year. Cool weather veg like potatoes,
sprouts, leek etc do very well here btw. Ground frosts in every month,
but that's the challenge!
Currently 8C, fog and heavy rain (:0( day max 11C
I'm looking forward to the Beans v Pennine Wave gale tomorrow.
Best wishes,
Ken
Copley, Teesdale, where tomorrow will usually bring an improvement.
