Just started raining here but judging by the radar, amounts seem to be

Looking at the forecast though it seems rain will certainly not be in short
supply over the next week or so.

Is there any chance of some long spells of settled weather this summer? I
certainly hope so. Though this June wasn't too bad I don't think I could
handle a repeat of last year's cool and unsettled July.

Max today of 22.5°C and 9.0 hours of sunshine.

Hi Nick. The rain here has just about managed to wet the ground. The
heaviest rain is breaking out in a very narrow, discontinuous band
ahead of the main trough. Rain over the pennines, East of Manchester,
at present, on the Northern edge of this pre-frontal development.
There's also some heavier rain to the North of me, but the only
'sferics are well to the South over Northern France. So far, Nick, as
you say, disappointing, but as I type, slightly heavier rain pushing
in over Dawlish and coating my rain-collection vessels!

As to your worry......the gfs charts are dire and I may have beetter
luck in filling my water butts over the next week. There's a ridge of
high pressure showing at the end of the first week of July, but I
wouldn't bank on it and there's but precious little else showing on
those charts, in terms of settled weather. Another few runs and I'll
be extending my unsettled forecast towards mid-month. Sorry to paint
such a poor picture. I desperately need sunshine and settled weather
for the 14th/15th July!

Paul

PS I didn't see your June summary on the local telly! Did I miss it?
