Default Early indications for Winter 2008/9

Seems to be very similar to last year, a transition to progressively
drier and warmer weather as we move into autumn... though I have to
say I'd be very surprised to see *yet another* dry warm September
after so many lately.

Just had a look at the last 3 Septembers, and it seems that the warmth of
the first half of this month quite remarkable and has been a continuation of
summer-like temperatures. Only during the latter half of the month did a
cooling trend begin to appear.

September (1st - 15th) Mean Max:
2005 22.5°C
2006 21.5°C
2007 21.9°C
Average: 22.0°C

Days exceeding 20°C (1st - 15th)
2005 11
2006 10
2007 12
