Default Planes landing at Heathrow this p.m.

Hi Folks

Was wandering round Richmond today and noticed that the planes were coming
in to land right overhead the town centre from 1pm-3pm(ish) and then
seemed
to be flying along a different path.

Just wondered what was happening here - just changing to a different
runway, are there two parallel runways? Never paid much attention really
at
Heathrow! Help please from the aviators (Phil? Jon? Jack?)

But actually reading your post again, it may just be the 'alternation' when
we changed from the Southerly Runway (27L) to The Northerly (27R) for
landing at 1500L This only occurs on Westerly operation ie landing over
London from the East to the airport. On Easterlys we i.e landing over
Windsor we always land on the Northerly (09L).
