.... thanks for those: as you know from this newsgroup, the comment was
made several times that the wind was found to be the significant
feature of the summer (in addition to lack of sunshine, depressed day
maxima etc.)

In your summary, for both August & the summer, your mean 10 m wind is
the highest since 1994. As Wokingham is a good 'proxy' for an inland
site in the highly populated inland part of SE England, do you have
any data to put that into context? Was it in the 'top 10%' of the
record (for August and/or summer) for example?
