Summer: slightly above average temps; wetter, espec in some areas; very dull

Michael Fish apparently said "I've been forecasting for 40 years and
this UK summer was about as average as you can get".
I wouldn't dare to argue with Michael Fish; all I can say is that here in
Carmarthenshire, several agricultural shows were cancelled for the first
time in many years; some local farmers haven't had enough days of settled
weather to cut hay, and on my own damp smallholding (which fortunately is
more of a hobby than a livelihood), I haven't a hope of getting my tractor
on the fields to keep the grass down, and haven't been able to for at least
a month. Even the quad bike is leaving ruts in places!
Incidentally, I can't remember having a single day in recent months of
wall-to-wall sunshine. Can anyone who keeps records in this part of Wales
or perhaps in the Southwest of England tell me when they last recorded such
a day?
