Default Cloud rotation Poole Dorset

"Gary L" wrote in message...
Thunder and hail here in Branksome Poole about 15:20.
Very slow moving thundery showers.
Heavy rain with some large hail.
A big group of staff gathered to watch a very menicing dark cloud
with rotation that could be seen very clearly.
One member of staff got a lump on his head from a very large piece
of hail approx 12mm diametre.
Heardly a breath of wind. Clouds seem to be forming in situ.

.... not surprised at that report; the event we had up here (further
inland) was always 'on the edge' of something that seemed to be
concentrated down your way, with another cell to our east. Was
watching the cloud filaments here rather carefully about the same time
(trying to get the grass cut in between bursts of rain), but nothing
seen. However the situation IMV was such that a 'funnel' or similar
might be seen.

Martin.
