That is precisely how I interpreted your original comment - we have
had a good deal of weather off the Atlantic this 'summer' and
therefore a few days of a different air stream will, indeed, be
interesting.

Also, come to think about it, last winter there were two or three
northerly blasts greeted/forwarned by newsgroup contributors, with
considerable discussion about snow etc penetrating into the south. Not
a lot happened IIRC, but it did see a rise in postings of the sort
that interests me whereas daily obs tend not to - with the exception
of a neighbour to my north and one to my east
