Quite so. I rather believe he was deriding the scholars of his day about
their capacity to deal with the theory of evolution.

The answer of course in the absence of scientific control is to suck it
and see. My methods work despite not having an explanation. Whilst
evolution is palpably lacking in day to day evidence what with the
unsurvival of not just species but genus these days; and the
international placement of its practioners in gaols.

(Of course not believing in evolution I don't see thieves and murderers
as heros of a modern myth.)
