Last night was the coldest October night (-3.4°C) in Coventry since

Just for the record, the coldest October night in the city recorded an
overnight minimum temperature of
-4.9°C in 1935.

With a maximum temperature of just 7.4°C on Tuesday, it was the
coldest October day in the city since 1992 (7.0°C); the coldest
October day on record however managed just 2.7°C in 1934.

To have snow lying in October is pretty unusual. I can't recall in
all my 62 years seeing lying snow, although I do recall snow/sleet
falling before halloween.
