Create and account and get the AVHRR (and other) data for free - note
that while the 1km data is available day-time, it is not available at
night-time (although this does vary a bit...).

Data can be read and processed by David Taylor's HRPT reader available
at: http://www.david-taylor.myby.co.uk/software/hrpt.htm
