Note the very long, near-continuous linear featu the books talk
about ' hundreds of kilometres ' in better examples; this one was at
least 1400 km with only minor weakening & lasted many hours as a
coherent feature.

These features can spawn hail, thunder and tornadoes - not sure if
there are any reports of such activity though.

This cold front produced a damaging wind event/minor tornado at
Knodishall, Suffolk (~14Z) as a wave feature moved along the line.
Could anyone with more information or an AWS in the area contact me,
thanks,
David
