The Dew point was -3C in st Albans early in the afternoon.

Similar in Chalfont St Giles with -2.3C at 1335z. It was up to +3.6 by
1600 but it's been easing back down again since then.

Fascinating to see things like this with my (relatively) new AWS. If you
are interested go here www.laindonweather.co.uk and click on trends at the
bottom and then outside temperature. You can see the dew point rise around
4pm -6pm as you mention and then drop again along with the temperature.
Presumably as the front went through as it was accompanied at 6.15pm by
strong gusts and a burst of sleety rain.
