Schools closed? I was talking to a neighbour a few days who was at school in
Wales during the '47 winter. Snow was up to the first-floor windows but
no-one missed a day at school.

The story in my paper this morning reckoned some schools were closed
because the teachers couldn't get to work. I suppose nowadays teachers
tend not to live as locally as they used to. Even so, I can't help
wondering whether all of them made all that great an effort to get in.
