December on record with a total of 13.2mm (24.8%). This narrowly beats
1988 with 14.0mm and 1996 with 14.7mm. Local records from Bob Pritchard
show December 1963 with only 14.0mm

Keith ... I've just been putting together some of my national surveys for
December (and the year), and Shoeburyness was the driest place in the
UK with 12mm ... but December 1991 seemed to have been marginally
drier there.

Incidentally, both Eskdalemuir and Yeovilton passed their August
sunshine total in the last couple of days!
