Continuous rain in Chalfont St Giles for the past hour. Now (11.25 BST)
moderate in intensity. The radar doesn't look too promising for the
next hour or two.
Rain ceased 11.45 BST but it looks as if there is more to come. More
than a hint of autumn in the air with the temperature 14.5c in a fresh
WNW wind.
Pleasant enough here, coolish breeze but strong sunshine. 18.9 at 13:00 so
might just top 20. I expect it will easily top 21 somewhere on the south
coast. Saturday was a glorious day, slightly warmer and little wind.
Sadly the surf is all chopped up. Should be good in a couple of days time
though, with a light off-shore on the north coast, and a reasonable good
looking depression in mid-Atlantic by then. Most important of all the August
Bank holiday crowds will have gone. There is something about some of the
people who visit Cornwall on August Bank holiday which distinguishes them
from anybody else. The rest of the year it's fine, but an approaching August
Bank holiday fills me with dread.
