Default Daily Mail: Coldest Jan night since 1926?

Between 1988 and 1996 the Tutiempo site has data for two Farnborough
stations - Farnborough and "Farnborough Military" (but the latter only
Mon to Fri it seems!). Comparing the two there seem to be some
surprising discrepancies so not sure how reliable the data is.

Farnborough Military recorded a minimum of -12C on Jan 3 1979:

(data only given to whole degrees)

And -12.1C on Jan 12 1987: http://www.tutiempo.net/en/Climate/F...1987/37660.htm

The data don't go back to 1963 unfortunately.

Still this area had an impressive run of cold nights recently
considering we never really got a proper easterly blast: two
consecutive nights below -8C at Farnborough last week and the -10.8C
this week. The Basingstoke Canal was frozen right across to a
thickness of 4 to 5 inches on Sunday afternoon (Jan 4th) and that was
before the *really* cold night! Photo taken by Eelmoor Bridge just
south of Farnborough airfield after I finally managed to smash a piece
of it out: http://i41.tinypic.com/ycttw.jpg
