Default Outside readings from the Inside

My virtually antique temperature reader with wire probe leading to the
ouside, (takes 2x AA's) that I have mounted on the wall of my living room,
has certainly seen nearly the best part of 30years. I bought it from the
sales shop at the London Weather Centre in the glory days of Jack Scott i
think when you could see the duty forecaster read out the weather at
5.55pm from High Holborn. Anyone Remember that!
So i'm looking for something similar (these days we have radio control
units mounted outside) I don't want anything really sophisticated like
everything wind speed et al I noticed this -- anyone have any comments to
make?

I've found most of the radio sensor ones to be pretty good and very cheap
now. If you only want temp and humidity Maplin's usually have one and the
Lidl's (Silvercrest) one is top notch when it's in.
