I would have thought that winds of 100mph+ were relitively common up
there, and any structures would be designed to withstand them.
Hasn't Cairngorm had winds approaching 150mph?


Interestingly, Countryfile has just done a feature on the Cairngorm
weather station, and they said that winds of over 100mph were pretty
common. It looks a pretty desolate place though, they had to hack
their way in with an ice axe!

From comments it sounds as if this was the Heriot Watt weather
station,
not the official Met one?
