Interestingly, Countryfile has just done a feature on the Cairngorm
weather station, and they said that winds of over 100mph were pretty

Yes, I watched that too - always wondered how they kept their
instruments functioning up there.
They heat them when they are not out taking readings.
Then they must be pretty fast reacting when they *are* exposed.
