Default Deep depression crosses the Haute Vienne, France

Some of you will know I have a Davis AWS at our cottage
in the southwest Midlands of France ... it is located roughly
midway between Limoges and Angoulême.

This morning's depression appears to have gone right over
the top with strong winds for and aft. The Davis output can
be seen here.

The anemometer is at 2.5m in a field bordered by trees, some
10-12m high, so the gust of 35mph (from the north)
is truly exceptional. In 12 years of records I have recorded
gusts over 20mph only four times, and none above 26mph,
although the station was, sadly, out of action during the storms
of December 1999. The cold air has now cut in behind the
centre and it is (according to neighbours) snowing heavily.
Fingers crossed the power stays up.
