LOW ????????

I thought someone would react to my rether provocative remarks. It is a
serious point though as this job must be very senior in the Met Office
heirarchy. I suspect a job of that stature in business would command a
larger salary than the one offered. I realise that nobody joins the MetO to
get rich but if science based jobs keep the reputation they have of being
poorly rewarded it will be difficult to attract the brightest and best into
this area which I think is absolutely vital for the country a a whole.

When a very modest hosue costs £250,000 in the SE a salary of £60,000 is
needed to be able to get a mortgage of sufficient size.

I would guess less than 5% in the MetO earn a salary like that.

Mind you nobody joins the MetO to get rich :-)
But you do get to see 1Km resolution radar updated at 5 minute intervals
