[WR] Romsey - 10mm diameter hailstones

Have just walked the dog in the mother of all snow showers. It dropped
in 20 minutes a very deep layer - maybe 3/4 inch. All day I have been
watching the radar animation and generally some beefy showers have
crossed Lyme and headed our way. They are supposed to slacken off
during the evening. Still some good echoes I see..
There was a significant snow shower in Southampton this morning that
dropped around 1 inch in 30 minutes between 7:30am and 8am. The amount
may be slightly skewed as I was at that time walking from Southampton
Central towards the Sports Centre up Hill Lane - a moderate height gain.
There was snow on and off for most of the day in Southampton but had
turned to sleet by about 5:30pm.
Just returned back to Bournemouth where there has been further snow
recently. A short shower of small hail made the pavements just slippery
enough to be annoying on my walk back from the station (6:30pm).
No 0.1 metre hail here though :-)
