JUst a very light dusting here, enough to cover the roads but not the

From the look of the radar, it's skirting to the north of here as it
dies
out moving west. If we get any more it's unlikely to amount to much.
Still... first lying snow here in more than 5 years, and only the second
instance this century. Expect it will be washed away later as the snow
turns
to rain.

Hi Jim:
Listening to Radio Solent you think we had reached the end of the
world, but then the majority of their listeners are Hants and that
area. I gather the IOW has had a bit in Ryde- more I bet on the hill
tops.

Off to work but sneeking in at the back to avoid being lumbered with
the work of those who made no attempt to go to work through the
massive drifts

Here in Wimborne, the snow has fallen on black ice. My wife was
turned back by the police when she tried to drive less than a mile
from Colehill to Wimborrne! Vehicles were sliding all over the place
on hilly roads. Roads are now clear at 2 pm and just an occasional
snow flake falling.

Cheers, Alastair.

Yes that Rowlands Hill can be nasty in such weather... but had it been
gritted..??

I remember going down Middlehill Road sideways in Dec 97 cos the roads
hadn't been gritted despite the forecasts. (I used to live in Mallard Road)
and had to replace a wheel as a result.

On Monday they shut the Spur Road northbound from Cooper Dean and it took me
an hour and a half to get from Springbourne to Iford Roundabout. (2 miles);
it had only taken me 1H15m to get from here to Heathrow the previous day.
