Much colder just inland...

Hardly any snow left in Southampton but the southward facing slopes of

They're a bit higher but still generally under 500ft, so obviously
it's quite significantly colder just inland. The fastest rate of
melting seemed to be after dark yesterday evening.
Ditto down here in Hilton. Spun off to Majestic in Dorchester for a
good stock up and found in the 11 miles by road, the snow cover
dropped off completely. I now think we had a total of 5 inches
The bizarre thing this evening is the temperature. I thought it would
rise gradually but it has been falling since 1300 and is now 1C. On
the radar is some very bright echoes in Lyme Bay. So, surrounded by
deep snow, I await the drumming of rain shortly.
The radar has two rather modest looking bands - one to the south of
us, and one of similar size down Cornwall way.
Having looked outside it is eerily quiet and not a sausage drifting or
falling
Back to kicking the stove which steadfastly refuses to get going this
evening
