There's a very strange looking thin "rope" of cloud linking "Ivan" with
the African coast. See it at

The "rope" is getting on for 1000 miles long. From the corresponding IR
image it can be seen that it is low cloud. I suppose it is the result of
convergence but it is surprisingly well-defined yet very narrow over
such a long distance.
