Default Hilton (Dorset)snow-again

After quite a lot of rain/sleet it suddenly transformed into a goodly
amount of snow at about 1115. I had to do some reports so only had one
eye open at the outside world: it seemed to really start to come down
and at 1250 the workforce was gathered ( I stuck to reports) and told
they could go home.
That sparked a rush in the worsening conditions and within 20 minutes
a least two were stuck on the Puddletown bypass. I gave some locals a
lift home ( I have 4WD) and shot up to the ridge to see whether others
could drive down to the Fox at Ansty-I then escorted them. Milk tanker
was being towed out by tractor plus various other cars in difficulty.

Matters got worse: cables outside my house came loose and then a power
cut. By this time (1530) the snow was easing but the damn stove was
almost out so set to and got that started.

Light came on at 1715 but the phone was dead. That turned out, luckily,
to be exhausted batteries ( where can I get rechargeable rated 550mAh
1.2v- and does it matter if they are 600 or 700 I wonder via my local
Argos?) and so broadband OK.

Later I drove to Blandford and when returning from Blandford Garrison
(2100) the A354 was absolutely lethal. Four cars unable to proceed -
no gritting.

Temps dropping to -3 now

I see that there is a chance of another show event on Monday?
