Default is winter over

Dont see any signs of snow!!! for at least 2 weeks.Anyone disagree?

Keep those fingers crossed and winter might stay away until the end of the
year.

The 'lift' in temperatures which often happens around the 20th of February
from the usual 'meandering' background temperatures has happened this year.
It happened last year (though being masked a little by a very warm spell
mid-month) and again in 2007, but not in 2006 when temperatures were held
back by cold easterlies and northerlies, the cold persisted until the last
week of March.

I remember reading about this last week of February 'lifting' of
temperatures in a book by Lamb, but which one it was I don't remember.

February 2006 was actually quite a cold month with a mean temperature of
only 4.2°C and was the coldest month I have recorded since moving here in
the spring of 2005. In contrast, the mean temperature for this February
currently stands at 5.0°C.
