put 'Cassley' as the lowest with 2.50C. I am ashamed to admit I had to
look
up where 'Cassley' actually is (Sutherland / north of Scotland), though
I see
from the maps (and a more general search on facilities etc.) that the
name
(for the village) is given as 'Invercassley', so perhaps this AWS is
upriver,
along the Cassley somewhere, not necessarily at Invercassley - anyone
familiar with the site?

Must admit that I had to look it up as well. I've never heard of the
place. It
certainly is in a location where low minima will often occur. If Phil
Gurr is
reading this he might be able to give a bit more info on the site. It's
only
about 10 miles from him.

... looking around further, particularly via the SEPA site, it looks as if
the site is co-located with the gauging station at the confluence of the
Cassley & Oykel - SEPA list it as being 'Rosehall' which makes some sense
if this is correct. Certainly a place for low temperatures but probably
beaten on many occasions by places such as Altnaharra which is why the
name hasn't registered with me. I see that the station often comes up in
rainfall studies.

It is, I believe, one of those awful misnomers. You can see it
here, with the AWS in the mid-left foreground. The site is
two-thirds of the way up Loch Shin, on the southwestern side ...
not even in Glen Cassley.
