put 'Cassley' as the lowest with 2.50C. I am ashamed to admit I had
to look
up where 'Cassley' actually is (Sutherland / north of Scotland),
though I see
from the maps (and a more general search on facilities etc.) that the name
(for the village) is given as 'Invercassley', so perhaps this AWS is
upriver,
along the Cassley somewhere, not necessarily at Invercassley - anyone
familiar with the site?

Martin.

Must admit that I had to look it up as well. I've never heard of the
place. It
certainly is in a location where low minima will often occur. If Phil
Gurr is
reading this he might be able to give a bit more info on the site. It's only
about 10 miles from him.

Cassley is a river that meets the River Oykel at Invercassley and is
famouse as the location of 'Fly Fishing by J.B.Hartley'. Invercassley is
hardly a village, just a collection of a few houses and a pub. The
nearest village is Rosehall, about a mile distant. The area upstream of
Invercassley is largely devoid of habitation and was purchased a few
years ago by Al Fayed (Harrods). It may well be that one of the
gamekeepers keeps temperature records, but as far as I know, there is no
recognised met. station there. I will make some enquiries!
