It depends quite strongly on the time of year. In Dec/Jan the
max is often not much after 1300Z because later in the afternoon the
sun is becoming very low. In high summer the maximum is quite a bit
later. In neutral conditions a typical time would be 1530Z but that
depends, at least here, on the wind direction, given similar amounts
of sunshine. With a NE'ly the max here is early (typically 1400Z even
in summer) due to cool air from the N Sea or Thames Estuary being
drawn in later in the afternoon but with a W to NW'ly the max can be
as late as 1730Z. All this assumes a fairly constant level of
sunshine.
