Default Wind direction

I like weather, but don't study it.

I always had this "sense" that 90% of the time wind came from NW, W, or
SW.

Now I "sense" it's something like 70% of the time.

Wind direction nowdays, especially in the spring, seems to be come more
freqeuntly from easterly directions.

Just a sense I've got. Wonder if my senses are anywhere near accurate.

70% sounds about right to me. Spring is the season of the year when we
are most likely to get easterlies.
