Default hurricanes from the air

As a retired pilot, I found this article about the penetration of the
eye of a hurricane absoolutely fascinating.

It makes me realise just how dull my career was. I know that had I had
the chance to do hurricane research, I would not have hesitated. Mad I
know, but I would have loved it.

Great article - they certainly earn their pay! I've always been amazed that
they can do this safely.

Going from the eyewall to the eye must surely change the crosswind from
180mph to not much in a very short space of time, presumably this must have
weird windshear effects?
