I have lived in Cornwall, off and on, since 1978 and have driven down to
the Lizard on many occasions but I've never seen any signs indicating the
50th parallel.

OT, but you did ask ... there's a nice cafe bar in Falmouth harbour,
just outside the National Maritime Museum, which is called 5°W. It's a
little bit off, as Google Earth shows it at 50° 09'N, 5° 03'W, but
what's 3 minutes between friends?!

I also recall seeing a fabulous clifftop villa with a superb view in
Grenada, WI, which was called 12°N - and it lay exactly on the line.
It was truly the stuff of dreams, especially to the penniless student
I was when I saw it ... wonder whether it's still there?
