Right, I've cleared all the logs and set up a new station, and this

This is definitely an odd one!

So to recap:

Bulletin mode is definitely running perfectly well (other than the
detail of the barograph not being able to see a store of recent
pressure data), but when you go to download archive data, well,
nothing happens?

If you look at the archive interval, what's it currently set to?
Purely for test purposes, it's often useful to set a 1-minute interval
(just so that a significant amount of archive data accumulates
quickly.)

And when you try to do an archive download, what error message do you
see - 'No new data to download'? Or something else?

Presumably the Baud rate is definitely set to 19200 on _both_ console
and WL set-up?

And even though the time is roughly synchronised between console and
PC, did you definitely check that the year is the same too?

Year, date and time checked and the same on both.
"No new data to download" message on archive download.
I've set the archive to one minute intervals, so we'll see what (if
anything) happens.
Baud rate 19200 on both.
It gives the standard message that it's about to download the next
data record in 10 seconds, unless cancelled, but downloads nothing.
