My grass min has been disturbed every night for the last week
and this morning I picked it up several metres from its pegs. It
presumable catches the light and is an attraction to magpies or
perhaps pigeons. And this despite some minimal protection
which should prevent it being lifted straight out of its supports.

Any ideas for more substantial protection without affecting the
readings?
