Not much reported compared to Frances and Ivan but I suppose the areas
hit are poor, black and not as well supplied with TV stations and

Apparently the flooding was exacerbated by the deforestation that has
occurred in Haiti resulting in mudslides as well asreducing the retention of
the water in the hills. The trees are used to produce charcoal. No doubt
this is a cosequence of the islands undoubted poverty.
