Desperately poor afternoon for 'high summer' here.

Earlier it rose to 17c and rather cloudy, last couple of hours have been wet
and it's now fallen to 14c.
Wind F3-4 northerly, SLP 1018mb.

35th successive day without even 22c even being reached here.

What makes it all the more galling is that it's 27c and CAVOK at Manston. So
near but yet so far..

Jim, Bournemouth

You've just been in an unlucky spot under the front.

Another sunny start here, though a bit more breeze than yesterday.
Reached 20.3C yesterday, but felt warmer as it was so still.

The far SW was notably cool last year, when the SST was rather low in
July/Aug. This year the SST in the SW approaches was normal most of
July, though rather below in the last week. It's currently a near
normal 17Cish at Sevenstones, but should rise now with quieter
conditions and more sunshine. Normal summer 'cold pool' near Isle of
White / East Devon.

The superb surf of the last 2 days is a thing of the past, looks much
smaller today, also a breeze will make it less clean. A day to get
back to some work.
