Started to rain, big fat sparse drops, at about 17:30, then increased to
a tremendous downpour which lasted at least until 23:00. The rain gauge
(cheapo plastic thingy which nevertheless generally shows a level that
fits) was overflowing this morning, which means over 30mm. Can this be
true?

Luckily, we had mowed the lawn at 4 o'clock. Unluckily, we had arranged
to go down into Greenwich to eat. Luckily, we had chosen Indian, which
went well with the monsoon weather. Unluckily, we had to sit downstairs
in the muggy basement, with an excessively damp microclimate around the
ankle area. Heigho.
