Here in east Berkshire (Bracknell), a very pleasant afternoon now - fine
sunshine for the last day of racing at Ascot with the 'old' grandstand:
temperature just above 19degC, gentle wind and variable Ci/thin Ac.
Seems odd to think that the grandstand is regarded as 'old' and will now
be demolished. I can remember it being built back in the early '60's and
its always been the 'new' stand for me - but then I can remember the
Meteorological Office building in Bracknell being new ... now a sorry
site/sight with broken windows, a security fence around same and the
forlorn look of waiting for the bulldozers to turn up .... but then many
will say that's the way it's looked for many years!
Martin.

Well a much more pleasant day today (Southampton) after yesterday
which was as if we'd bypassed most of autumn and landed straight in
November.... Overcast but *very* warm. I'd be surprised if the temp
is
not above 20C, it certainly feels the warmest day since the 10th.

19.8°C at Bournemouth (1400Z) and 20.9°C at Pershore (near Worcester).
