Will, Thanks for that. I'm glad I'm not alone in finding the AWS quite
off. I'm beginning to think it's partly the tipping bucket mechanism,
partly the height above the ground, and partly the effect of gusty
winds, the latter having much less of an effect on calmer days. I've
demonstrated to my own satisfaction, if to no one else's, the possible
causes of the differences, and I'm thinking of stopping the daily
comparisons at the end of August, when I shall have completed six months
worth of data collection on this subject.

Of course, if people want me to continue, then I will do so.
