Having decided to support our ailing economy by holidaying in England ,I
think the least the Dorset Tourist Board could do is to supply decent
weather !
By the way ,what is the attraction about 'the foot of our stairs '?,perhaps
its to view the remains of those despatched by the efforts of disgruntled

My wife works for the tourist industry in Dorset, but I can't get any
assurances from her because at present she in ib holiday in the South
of France!

As far as your other question is concerned, don't you just hate those
people who look up quiz questions on the internet? Well I just done
that, and you will be pleased to learn that nobody knows how it
originated :-) See http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/t...ur-stairs.html

I think I know, but I'll leave it to a Yorkshire man to reveal the
secret, if he sees fit.

Cheers, Alastair.
