Any views on the coming winter Philip?

It'll be an interesting one.

Because all winters are interesting? Or do you have reason to
think that
it may be out of the ordinary?

Ah, you can read me like a book. John. I do sometimes
despair of those usw-ers whose world revolves around
snow and thunder. What unfulfilled lives they must lead.
All weather is, of course, endlessly fascinating.

Couldn't agree more, Philip. Every synoptic chart is utterly unique.
Every day's weather is utterly unique. Enjoy what you have today,
whatever it is, and don't get all hung up about what some model hints at
for 10 days into the future.

Having worked as a forecaster in so many places around the world I would
say that this country has some of the most fascinating weather I have
come across, and some of the most difficult to forecast with any useful
level of accuracy.

Norman.
