As the drought continues around here fires are breaking out. Not helped by
the hot but breezy weather. A large patch of grassland had been destroyed
on my walk this afternoon on some local marshland. A grass fire in Great
Wakering burnt down two houses. I suspect the Australians would find that
odd considering what they have to put up with. A bit like the
Scandinavians with our difficulty in dealing with snow I suppose.

I just find it utterly amazing that just 250 miles to my east you are having
a drought whereas here in Devon everywhere is lush, growing vigorously and
soaking.
