According to the news, outflow winds from large thunderstorms passing to
the
west of the city today knocked down large trees mostly in the south. The
winds were strong enough to make me take videos of the trees around my
place
and the road had a lot of small branches on it from them. Gusts in
places
exceeded 80 kmh. Played havoc with the LPGA Cdn Open nearby in the
afternoon too. Poor Michelle Wie. 8-(

You folks had Trees knocked down by winds under 50 mph? We get Gusts
up
to 100 kph (60 mph) every year without Trees falling down.

Crazy Ed

Over 50 mph. Well we don't get this sort of thing very often-maybe our trees
aren't used to it. And they have a lot of wind resistance. The wind was
strong enough that I took a few videos-it was that unusual. Top gust near
me was 87 kmh (tv news)-higher elsewhere in the city. Only 1/2"-3/4"
branches on the ground by me. Too bad it didn't take the tree next to my
driveway-it weeps sap all over my car and blocks my view of the western sky
with my telescope.
