Default BB {Was: Haytor is going automatic}

How long is very long? The 6km limit on 512kbps BT ADSL was lifted on
the 6th September... Over 6km and BT send an engineer round to change
the faceplate on the master socket(*) to split the data from voice
before it hits any internal extension wiring, this also avoids the
need for micro filters on all connected analogue devices.

(*) Don't know if that would include moving the master socket location
to where the PC is located.

About 7km. I checked with BT website using my phone number and got the
response:

"Our initial test indicates that it is VERY UNLIKELY you will be able to
receive Broadband from BT with speeds up to 512Kb due to the very long
length of your telephone line."

But I live in hope!
