I don't know which weather models you are looking at?
I personally have been using those at FNMOC.navy a lot the last
12-13 years. I have found the best model there.
Suddenly from Wedensday onwards -was it?, they have launched a
new interface for their models.
Europe have now got now 2 interfaces, the new one with better
resolution.
The thing is - the new one DOESN'T show Scandinavia! -
now have we seen that before *;-)
AND, the old one is the ONLY one of all their 20 areas
around the globe that has NOT been updated at all the
last week!!
And this right when we got this very cold weather with
snow down to 500 m here now.
Where is my model when I NEED it!?
So can you tell me - is NOGAPS, GFS available elsewhere
WITH Scandinavia?

orhttp://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/fsavneur.html
should be of some use for your area in terms of the GFS
In terms of performance, ECMWF and the Met Office Global Model (GM)
routinely outperform the GFS.
There's more links herehttp://www.metbrief.com/charts.html
Jon.
Thanks, that is to some help. Unfortunately no NOGAPS interface
there. NOGAPS is the one I'm using mostly.
If it is FNMOCs intention to leave out Scandinavia and northernmost
Antlantic for good, I don't think they know what they are doing!
As we know that's where we have the Polar front and the most
turbulent, difficult *and unpredictable weather in fairly populated areas
on the planet. The most natural and necessary place to have a
working weather model!
The DAM lines is a feature that is more than useful in northern
areas. The 528 dam line tells where snow might be expected.
The dam lines coupled with isobars and precipitation gives a
very easy overview how the weather is and looks to be.
Ufortunately I found no maps showing this like the graphics
that is down by the links you sent me.
I will keep looking, and crossing my fingers for FNMOC
Europe 2 to return.

I use Wetterzentrale Bjorn. All the major models are there, including
NOGAPS and Scandinavia appears to be where it should be!
