It's always as well to consult the experts, I think, so can anyone pin down
the exact date and wording of the original Times headline which was to the
effect that there was fog in the channel,and the
continent was isolated? Wikipedia says it may be apochryphal, but perhaps
SKS with access to the Times archive could spend a couple of mins on it,
please? I found one for 1957 but Himself and I are convinced it's earlier
and someone else has given me dates in the late 1930s.
I do hope this group is not too serious for this sort of trivia
